From Foundation to Siding: A Construction Photo Tour

Some of the most important work on a new structure happens before the exterior takes shape. These photos follow the new construction process on one Preferred Construction Group project, from excavation through framing, roofing, windows, and sections of siding.
Laying the groundwork
The first photos show the building footprint taking shape. After excavation, forms and steel reinforcement were set for the concrete footings. Once the concrete work was in place, concrete block walls established the raised foundation. Seeing these stages side by side makes it easier to appreciate how much happens before a wall goes up.
Building the frame
Next came the wood floor framing, followed by the exterior walls and gable roof framing. At this stage, the structure's shape became clear: openings for windows and doors were visible, and the roofline began to define the building against the surrounding trees.
Shaping the exterior
Roof sheathing covered the rafters. Later photos show a shingled roof, house wrap, windows, and sections of vertical siding. Together, the images show how the exterior took shape over time.
